Hymnal Tool Tutorials
Using the Hymnal Tool
Selecting your Hymnal
To start using the hymnal tool, you'll need to select your church's hymnal under the 'Select Hymnal' section of the Hymnal Tool. Over 400 hymnals are supported by the SanctuarySync Hymnal tool. See the full list of supported hymnals here.
Specifying Hymn Number(s)
These are the hymn numbers for the hymns you would like SanctuarySync to pull information for. There are two ways you can specify the hymn number(s). Hymn Numbers must be entered as whole numbers.
If you only need information for one hymn: You can use the Hymn Number text box found under the 'Enter Hymn Number' section.
Note that for this option the hymn information will output into whatever cell (or cells) you have selected.
If you need the information for multiple hymns: You can select multiple cells that have hymn numbers in them and each selected cell will be converted from the number to the hymn information.
If any of the cells you select do not contain a valid hymn number, SanctuarySync will simply ignore that cell.
Select Hymn Information Output Format
This section allows you to specify what information you would like SanctuarySync to pull for you and in what format you would like that information outputted. Learn more about how you can create custom Hymn Formats here.

Creating a Custom Hymn Format
Hymn Formats allow you to specify what information you would like SanctuarySync to pull for you and in what format you would like that information outputted.
Using hymn fields to specify what information you would like pulled
The following is a list of available hymn fields:
{{hymnal}} - Pulls in the title of the hymnal
{{number}} - Pulls in the hymn number
{{title}} - Pulls in the hymn title
{{author}} - Pulls in the hymn author (if this information is available)
{{copyright}} - Pull in the hymn copyright information (if this information is available)
{{bonus}} - Adds back any text that was after the hymn number
For example, the highlighted portion would be outputted because it is additional text found after the hymn number: 4 verse 1 & 2
Note: There must be a space between the hymn number and any additional information
Feel free to add additional text around the hymn fields you are using to truly customize the format.
